Szen is a postdoc studying developmental plasticity and mechanisms of cell fate decisions using ex utero mice embryo cultures, single-cell co-assays, and perturbations. He is jointly working with the Srivatsan Lab and the lab of Dr Alejandro Aguilera-Castrejon at the HHMI Janelia Research Campus where he is primarily based. He completed his PhD at the Wellcome Sanger Institute under the supervision of Dr Mathew Garnett and Dr Sam Behjati where he studied tumour plasticity in KRAS-mutant colorectal cancer following drug combination treatments with scRNA-seq. In addition, he also developed an integrated colorectal cancer atlas to study cell state transitions in colorectal cancer.
